Oh how to stay up on my blogging? We are some busy peeps here in the Hanson household.
Cade recovered well from his “adventure in not so wonderful land”. He is officially potty trained and Hol-ee Cow was that a relief. He will be 4 in September and we had a hard time getting him to the “big potty.” He is so much fun and absolutely loves Rad being out of school for the summer. They are such buddy’s. Cade has started riding his dirt bike, with training wheels. He is so super cute in his dirt bike gear. Cade has started riding his dirt bike, with training wheels. He is so super cute in his dirt bike gear. ♥ it. He loves all of our baby animals and it’s so sweet to hear him talk to them and then hug them.
Rad is a Kindergarten graduate! He has learned and grown so much since starting Kindergarten. For Mothers day he made me a book. In it says, “My mom is 44 years old with black hair and green eyes.” Who’s his mama? His handwriting is fantastic. He began the school year really behind the rest of districts Kindergarteners when it came to reading and speech. His speech has improved so much and he scored as one of the highest Kindergarteners during the latest ISAT. I’m so proud! He has also started riding his dirt bike again this year, without training wheels. He went over our big dirt hill last week and didn’t even crash, well, until he ran over his bicycle that was hiding in the field. He has developed a love of garage sales. The other day I hopped out of the car after returning home from work and he said, “Mom, if we wake up early tomorrow we can go with Aunt V and Uncle Alex garage sale-ing. And at garage sales they have cheap toys, really cheap. So you have to give me money. If you don’t Aunt V will.” Ha! Then yesterday morning I left for work and about a quarter to 6 Derrick said that Rad was up and shuffling around the house and ready for garage sales he marches into our room and says, “Dad, come on! Get up! Let’s get this show on the road!”
Shayli ended her Freshman year with perfect attendance and a grade point average of 3.81. She is ranked 46 out of 247 students. What a gal! I took her to pick out a kitten last week. She named him Silver after some of our favorite jeans. She is happy for the summer but misses school already. She, like I did, loves high school. She has been a great help with the boys and the animals. We are lucky to have her in our family.
Derrick is doing great! We purchased a tent trailer last month. It was pretty beat down. Derrick fixed that thing up like a champ! It’s such a treasure now! He painted the exterior. In the interior he put down new linoleum (black and white checkered) painted the cabinets and walls, redid the refrigerator, put in new counter tops and Shayli and I reupholstered the cushions. Oh! And Derrick covered the table with diamond plate. It looks SO great! We took it camping last weekend and everyone loved it. AND Derrick custom made 2 racks for the top of the trailer that will hold the boys’ dirt bikes and one for that back for Shayli’s dirt bike. The trailer ALMOST makes our minivan look cool! I am so thankful for a husband that is so talented.
I’m still working at the hospital and for the Mingo Marker. I like both jobs. The hospital is definitely the most interesting and adrenaline rushing. I’ve seen and done things here that I never even thought I would. My heart is most always full when I’m here. Such neat people that I feel so much for. I’m thankful to be part of their care. I have surgery scheduled for the 27th of this month. Yes another one. It will be number 11 for knee surgeries and the 6th on my right knee.
We leave on the 5th for Oregon for a reunion with the Bostock family, a visit with Derrick’s sister, and camping down the coast on the way home. We are all looking forward to it. Cade wants to see a shark, Rad wants to see a whale and Shayli wants to find some sun and some killer shopping deals.
Life is good. We are so very blessed and I am so thankful.
