With all of the wet weather last weekend, Shayli and I got our scrapbook on. It was a lot of fun and Shayli did an awesome job on her pages! It's something that we will stay up on for sure.
Shayli's last day of 5th grade was on Tuesday. I can't believe how fast she's growing. She's such a great kid and an outstanding student. She got straight A's yet again. We're so proud of her.
One night last week I painted Shayli's toenails for her and then put on some flower decals. Rad had to have his done. I didn't paint them, but I did take a petals from some of the flower decals and put one on each toe. He thought it was SO cool. Cracked me up.
Derrick has been work, work, working away. It's nice having him home early in the evening though. I can always tell when he has worked extra hard on any given day because I'll go do the dishes and come back to the picture below. I love my boys!
Speaking of boys- I am having second thoughts on Finn for a first name. So now we are decided on Camdin. Derrick likes them both but wants me to decide soon so that he can be in practice with using the name when he's born. So as of now he is Camdin Solomon Hanson. I had an appointment yesterday with my midwife and everything looks just fine... except for my sugar levels were way high so I have to do a finger prick and test my blood for the next few mornings. And my iron is low and I'm still not eating enough protien. Geez.
One day last week Valeri came to my house all excited because there was a moose and her baby in the pond across the road. So Rad and I headed down the drive way to see it. Holy cow was it tiny! I didn't know that moose were born that small! My mom was looking at it too, from a distance of course, and her theory is that we saw it within a few hours of birth I agree. Less then a week later mom and baby were in our drive way and the baby was so much bigger already! It was having a hard time walking. Very cute.
A few nights ago I woke up to what I first though was an animal drinking out of our toilet. We don't have animals. So I kept listening and then I heard some heavy footsteps, the same lapping sound, something in the rocks below my open window and something breathing heavily in my open window, above my head. I woke Derrick up and he didn't hear anything at first but then did and I saw my favorite flower bush shaking like crazy! This flower bush, when it blooms has the prettiest flowers every. I don't know what they are. I was going to post a picture when they bloomed fully to see is any of you knew what they were. Can't so much do that now. We weren't able to see what the animal was but the next morning, when I saw that all of my flowers were gone, we knew it was the blasted moose.
Rad still won't sleep in his car bed, but we did get him to sleep in it for half of one night.
And to end it all, a tribute to the dads in my life.
While my dad passed away in 1995, I still miss him every day. I was blessed to have him here on earth with me for the first 15 years of my life and while I wasn't such a fan of his lectures during those years I love all of those lectures now and am so grateful for his diligence in being such an amazing father when I was a hard to deal with teen. One funny memory that I have of my dad is him getting home early enough from work on some days to swim with us in our pool while we lived in California. He would jump in the pool, make a huge splash and tell us to watch out for the albino walrus.
I am thankful for Stepdad Bob. He really stepped up and took a lot on when he married my mom and her six kids. I am thankful for the love that he shows me and more than anything these days, I am so thankful for the relationship that he has with Derrick. The two of them are actually hanging out together as I type this. They woke up early and had a Hoot Owl breakfast together and then are spending most of the rest of the day work, work, working away. He's been a great friend and example to Derrick and I love him for that.
Derrick, I sure am blessed to have such an amazing husband. He is a terrific father. the love that he has for his born kids is inspiring and to hear how he talks to and about Camdin while he's still in my belly makes me emotional. He is so much fun, and smart and he works so hard for his children and I love him SO very much. I am extremely lucky to have him as the father of my children.
